A Relaxing Weekend Getaway from Atlanta
Blue Ridge, Georgia might be best known for its hiking and outdoor activities -- but there's a whole other side to this little town, where you can blissfully spend an entire weekend doing a whole lot of glorious nothing!
If slow mornings in coffee shops, browsing bookstores, boutique shopping, rooftop views, and quirky stops sound good...then I've got the perfect itinerary for you!
My husband and I only had 24 hours for this little mountain escape, and somehow we managed to do absolutely everything and completely nothing all at once. It was a dream.
Here's what we did:
DAY 1 | STOP ONE: Mountain Mama's Coffee Lounge
771 E Main St., Blue Ridge
We rolled into downtown Blue Ridge around 2 PM and headed straight to my favorite local coffee spot. The inside is absolutely adorable, and there is always a great vibe (probably due to their super-friendly staff). I grabbed a Milky Way latte to sip while we wandered around downtown and explored the local shops.

DAY 1 | STOP TWO: Downtown Shopping
You could easily spend hours just wandering in and out of the shops here -- and honestly, that's half the fun. Every time I visit Blue Ridge, I find something new, from cozy bookstores to record shops and specialty boutiques to unexpected finds like a pasta market.
This trip, I fell in love with these local gems:
Cooper Fox Books | 252 W Main St
Oar: We Sell Things Men Love | 624 E Main St
Lily & CoCo's | 701 E Main St
The Pasta Market | 11 Mountain St
Of course, this is just the beginning -- there are so many cute shops to discover! So, grab a coffee and do some moseying!

DAY 1 | STOP THREE 3: Tipping Point Brewery
322 W Main St., Blue Ridge
I was on the lookout for a good rooftop view -- somewhere we could enjoy the scenery and do a little people watching -- and we found the perfect spot at Tipping Point Brewing Company. I loved their session IPA, the laid-back atmosphere, and the large balcony with corn hole and live music.

Stop 4: Camp Toccoa
For this trip, we had the absolute pleasure of being hosted by Camp Toccoa in their new Airstream property on the river. It was amazing! The property is so thoughtfully designed, from the landscaping to the layout, and the owners couldn't have been more welcoming. There are 2 private Airstreams on the property, each with its own:
Private deck
Riverside Fire Pit
Hammock
Hot Tub
There's also a communal grilling area and a luxury bathhouse (heated floors, laundry facility, and large showers if showering in an Airstream isn't your thing).
I loved this vacation rental! I posted more about it here.

Stop 5: Dinner
For dinner, we kept it super low-key and grabbed food from the local Ingles, which -- according to my husband -- is VERY nice. He's very passionate about his grocery stores, so his endorsement means something.
If you are not as passionate about grocery shopping on vacation, there are a lot of restaurants nearby. One of the closest (and one that not many people know about) is Old Toccoa Farm Tavern (200 Golf, Dr. Mineral Bluff). It' right outside of downtown Blue Ridge (and very close to the Airstreams), and the scenery here is beautiful!

DAY TWO
Stop 1: Bigfoot Biscuit
520 W Main St., Blue Ridge, GA
We had a slow morning at the Airstream (even caught the Blue Ridge train passing by!), then headed back downtown for breakfast at Bigfoot Biscuits. It's tucked into a cozy, cottage-style spot with plenty of patio seating, and the breakfast here was delicious -- hearty and reasonably priced!

Stop 2: The Sweet Shoppe of the South
721 E Main Street., Blue Ridge, GA
After breakfast, we did a little bit more wandering around town, and even though I was full of biscuits, I couldn't resist stopping at the Sweet Shoppe of the South. These guys won a season of Cupcake Wars, so obviously I had to pick up a few to bring back "for the kids."

Stop 3: Roo Mountain Vineyards
1497 Old Flat Branch Rd., Ellijay, GA
On our way out of town, we stopped at the stunning Roo Mountain Vineyards. This is relatively new, and I was so impressed with the architecture, design, and the views. It has that perfect "bring your out-of-town friends here to blow their minds" kind of energy, and we loved the atmosphere. Bonus: they also serve food, so you can make it a full-on lunch stop or just enjoy a glass of wine.

(Surprise!) Stop 4: Ellijay Mushrooms
2269 Old Flat Branch Rd., Ellijay, GA
One of the most unexpected (and delightful!) stops on our trip was to Ellijay Mushrooms, just around the corner from Roo Mountain Vineyards. I wasn't sure what to expect -- but it's such an adorable spot!
They have a gift shop where everything is mushroom-themed, like, everything. It's whimsical and unique in all the best ways. And if you've never been to a working mushroom farm, this is your sign to go! There's something oddly therapeutic about seeing how they're grown -- the symmetry, the quiet...it's almost meditative.
It ended up being such a fun, quirky way to end our trip!

If You Have Extra Time
If you've got a little more time to explore and want something else unique, check out Expedition Bigfoot! The Sasquatch Museum (1934 GA-515, Blue Ridge, GA) If you are heading south from Blue Ridge, you will pass this before Roo Vineyards, so it's an easy detour.

Make sure to save this 24-hour itinerary for Blue Ridge, GA, for the next time you need a quick and easy getaway filled with cozy coffee shops, boutique shopping, unique places to stay, and unexpected local gems!
I hope you found this helpful!
